Yellow - the most straightforward groupDIAMOND, SAPPHIRE, EMERALD and RUBY are all crystalline minerals - the most direct link on the board.
Green - mediumPHOTIC, ABYSSAL, BATHYAL and HADAL are all ocean zones.
Blue - harderPEREGRINE, SPARROWHAWK, MERLIN and GOSHAWK are all predatory birds.
Purple - the trickiest groupEach word goes in front of TONGUE to make a word or phrase: BLUE + TONGUE, MOTHER + TONGUE, SILVER + TONGUE and FRENCH + TONGUE.
