Yellow - the most straightforward groupKING, QUEEN, ROOK and KNIGHT are all chess pieces - the most direct link on the board.
Green - mediumRAPID, SWIFT, HASTY and BRISK are all synonyms for quick.
Blue - harderEach word goes in front of LINE to make a word or phrase: BOUNDARY + LINE, FINISH + LINE, DEAD + LINE and WAITING + LINE.
Purple - the trickiest groupThe link is in the spelling, not the meaning: each word has the letters CAT hidden inside it - CATECHISM, DUPLICATE, DELICATE and CATCHMENT.
